ANC Cape Town leader Tyhido resigns from council
Ndithini Tyhido quit the City of Cape Town council days before the local government elections. A disciplinary process over his alleged failure to attend meetings was pending, but he denies it had anything to do with his decision.
The DA-led council started the disciplinary action against Tyhido. It accused him of failing to attend meetings.
Tyhido said he was never formally charged with missing council or council committee meetings. He also said the rules for those meetings do not apply to sub councils. He called the process a political concoction by the DA.
Tyhido said: "I would rather go and dedicate my time to the campaign of the ANC."
