Privacy notice
Last updated: 26 October 2026
Newsbrief collects as little about you as it can. This notice explains what we keep and why, under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
What we do not do. No accounts. No ads. No tracking or advertising cookies. No analytics that follow you across sites. We never sell or share your data for marketing.
What we keep.
- Emails you send us. If you email corrections at newsbrief.co.za or support at newsbrief.co.za, we keep your email address, your name if you give it, and what you wrote. We use it only to deal with your message.
- Your theme choice. Light or dark is saved in your own browser, not on our servers. You can clear it in your browser settings.
Who else handles your data.
- Cloudflare hosts the site and forwards our email. Like any web host, it processes your IP address and browser details to deliver pages and to protect the site from attacks. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.
- Cloudflare Web Analytics counts page views, the pages read and the site that sent you, so we know how many people read Newsbrief. It sets no cookies and does not follow you across sites.
- Our email provider stores the emails you send us.
- Both may process data outside South Africa.
Cookies. We set no cookies of our own. Cloudflare may set a strictly necessary security cookie. It does not track you for ads.
Your rights. You may ask what personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it. Email support at newsbrief.co.za. You may also complain to the Information Regulator (inforegulator.org.za). Our PAIA manual explains how to ask for records.
Changes. If we change this notice, the date at the top changes.
