Eldorado Park father's sentencing delayed after he admits killing daughter, 4
The Johannesburg High Court postponed sentencing on Friday after the state submitted more evidence, including the child's post-mortem report. The 34-year-old pleaded guilty to murder, two counts of rape, child abuse, assault and resisting arrest.
The man admitted that he drowned the child in a bath after he repeatedly assaulted her. He is expected back in the Johannesburg High Court for sentencing.
The court granted the state's application for the child's mother to stand trial separately. She faces charges including murder, child abuse and failure to report sexual offences.
The state claims the mother saw injuries on the child but did not report them to the relevant authorities. Her case is due back in court in early 2027.
