IEC launches national results centre ahead of municipal polls
Ongoing: Elections Hot
The Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) will launch its national Results Operation Centre at the Gallagher Convention Centre in Midrand on Wednesday. It will explain how its election dashboard will work for the municipal polls.
The centre is the main base for auditing, collating, verifying and announcing election results. The IEC is set to open it before the municipal polls.
The launch follows a technical glitch in the 2024 general polls. The leader board at the national results operations centre went blank for about two hours.
The uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party challenged the 2024 results in the Electoral Court. The party claims the glitch allowed the rigging of votes.
