Pupils in Grade 1 to 3 who learn in isiNdebele will use 15-year-old materials in 2027. None of the eight publisher submissions for isiNdebele textbooks passed approval for the latest catalogue.

Grade 1 to 3 pupils in other mother-tongue languages will receive new textbooks for most subjects in 2027. The isiNdebele pupils are the exception, because no submission for their language made it into the catalogue.
