Masemola says Sibiya's deputy post will be filled soon
National Police Commissioner Fannie Masemola says filling the vacant deputy national commissioner post is a priority. Shadrack Sibiya resigned last week after his suspension and is in custody after a court denied him bail.
Masemola said: "We will be filling the post immediately; it is one of the priorities that I will be attending to now, and we will be filling it soon".
Sibiya was arrested last month at a Sandton strip club. He faces several charges, including human trafficking and firearm control charges. He is also accused of raping an 18-year-old woman and sexually grooming a 16-year-old girl.
The Randburg Magistrates Court denied him bail on Tuesday. The court cited concerns about possible witness interference, alleged threats and evidence of a wiped cellphone.
