NPA does not rule out more arrests in Sibiya rape case
Former Deputy National Police Commissioner Shadrack Sibiya stays in Kgosi Mampuru Prison after the Randburg Magistrates Court denied him bail on Tuesday. The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) says prosecutors will soon decide whether to charge his accomplices.
NPA spokesperson Kaizer Kganyago said prosecutors will soon decide whether charges against Sibiya's accomplices could be pursued. He said more people could face arrest after further investigation.
Kganyago said: "If evidence is found after further investigation, possibilities are there that other people could be arrested."
Sibiya is accused of sexually grooming a minor and raping an 18-year-old woman.
