NSFAS receives more than 1 million applications for 2027

The National Student Financial Aid Scheme says it has received more than one million applications for 2027 funding, up from more than 800 000 for 2026. Applications close on 31 October.

NSFAS says the number is the highest it has recorded. The scheme says the rise shows growing demand for tertiary education.

Spokesperson Ishmael Mnisi said the NSFAS Board will take part in the Final Push Outreach Programme. He said: "As part of our commitment to ensure that eligible students have access to financial assistance, the NSFAS Board will participate in the Final Push Outreach Programme".
