PMC will contest 32 municipalities in local elections
The People's Movement for Change, led by Marius Fransman, launched its manifesto in Cape Town on Thursday. It will also contest seven district municipalities and will stand in Cape Town without a mayoral candidate.
DJ Reddy D, the party's previous mayoral candidate for Cape Town, withdrew over contractual agreements with international clients. The party wants to emerge as the third-largest party in Cape Town, according to the PMC.
Fransman said the PMC presents itself as a pro-poor coalition partner. He said the party's calculations two years ago showed that coalitions would govern municipalities across the country in 90 percent of cases.
Fransman said at the launch: "Any alignment with any coalition partner must speak to a pro-poor governance model, and pro-poor includes the middle income."
