Public Protector investigates Pretoria over water problems
The Public Protector's office is investigating Pretoria's administration over the Bronkhorstspruit water crisis and a separate contamination problem in the CBD. Separately, businessman Suliman Carrim, who has ANC links, faces two court cases and is in Kgosi Mampuru II prison.
The water probe covers two problems: the water crisis in Bronkhorstspruit and a contamination problem in the Pretoria CBD. A news briefing on the week's stories raised both. The municipal elections are about a week and a half away.
Carrim is a North West businessman. The briefing said his legal troubles are piling up after he failed to appear before the Madlanga Commission. It also said he tried to leave the country while the commission was seeking his testimony.
