SIU leaves Midrand property without Maumela's Bentley
The Special Investigating Unit went to a Midrand property on Friday to seize a luxury car linked to Hangwani Morgan Maumela, a Tembisa Hospital tender figure. The car was not there, so the team left. The unit had not yet commented.
The unit hoped to seize a Bentley Continental GT, one of the vehicles forfeited by Maumela. Reports said this was the target of the visit. The unit said it would revert later.
The vehicle is part of a final forfeiture order from the Gauteng High Court in Johannesburg, granted in July. The Asset Forfeiture Unit obtained the order. It covers four Lamborghinis and a Bentley Continental GT, among luxury assets worth hundreds of millions of rands.
