Tshwane mayor accuses tanker drivers of ignoring water schedule
Mayor Nasiphi Moya says Tshwane Metro Police will help guide water distribution to areas with contaminated supplies, including Bronkhorstspruit. Hundreds of people have been hospitalised after drinking contaminated water.
Moya said some tanker drivers do not follow the routes the municipality set. In her words: "We do have people that are doing their own thing." She spoke on Saturday.
Moya also criticised the use of 20-litre containers. She said a tanker stands at one point for about 30 minutes while it fills them. She said clean Jojo tanks would let people get water when they need it.
Complaints have come from communities that tankers do not reach them. Residents have waited in long queues for water. Cullinan is also named among the affected areas.
