Tshwane mayor Moya defends her record at town hall
Nasiphi Moya, the ActionSA mayor of Tshwane, said the City has allocated R50 million for its own waste trucks. She spoke at a residents' town hall ahead of the 4 November local government elections.
Moya said metro police teams were redeployed to focus on women's safety. She also said clean drinking water now reaches most areas covered by the first two phases of the Hammanskraal project.
She said a new financial disciplinary board will report on officials who are dismissed or charged. She argued that collapsing infrastructure is what holds Tshwane back.
Moya said provincial and national government cannot keep treating municipalities as clerks. She insisted that Tshwane Ya Tima and bylaw enforcement are government work, not campaigning.
If re-elected, Moya said, funding infrastructure will be her obsession for the next five years.
