Wits study tests targeted HIV drug resistance checks in routine care
Wits University lists results from a study in Hillbrow and at Helen Joseph Hospital on targeted HIV drug resistance testing in routine care. The university says the results change how doctors manage treatment when standard medicines seem to stop working.
The study looked at moving targeted resistance testing into everyday clinical care for patients whose HIV treatment is failing. The researchers, the journal, the sample size and the test results are not yet known, so the claim comes only from the university's own short listing. It is not clear whether the work is peer-reviewed.
