Judgment due in Phala Phala farm theft trial
Magistrate Peter Manthata is due to rule on Monday morning on three accused charged over the alleged theft of $580 000 from President Cyril Ramaphosa's farm in February 2020. The matter has been in court for three years.
The three accused are Imanuwela David, Froliana Joseph and Ndilinasho Joseph. Froliana Joseph is a former domestic worker at the game farm. They face charges of theft, conspiracy to commit theft, money laundering and housebreaking.
Former intelligence boss Arthur Fraser opened a criminal case against Ramaphosa in June 2022. Fraser claims that Ramaphosa did not declare the foreign currency to the Reserve Bank. He also claims that Ramaphosa used improper methods to retrieve the stolen money.
