Shadrack Sibiya appeals refusal of bail in Johannesburg High Court
The former Deputy National Police Commissioner is accused of rape, human trafficking and sexual grooming. He was arrested in September, and the Randburg Magistrates' Court denied him bail in October.
Sibiya's legal team argues that the magistrate misdirected herself, despite the evidence the defence presented. The appeal is now before the High Court in Johannesburg.
The Randburg Magistrates' Court found that Sibiya failed to show exceptional circumstances that would justify his release.
