Police arrest 3 men after fuel station robbery near KaNyamazane
Mpumalanga police arrested the men in separate operations on Friday after armed security officers were robbed of cash at the fuel station. The suspects face charges of possessing a stolen vehicle and an unlicensed firearm, and will appear in court on Monday.
Police spokesperson Mavela Masondo said two suspects were arrested in KaBokweni after officers intercepted a red VW Polo suspected to be stolen. He said the disc and the numbers on the vehicle looked suspicious. A 41-year-old man was arrested in KaNyamazane with an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
The robbery happened on Friday morning at the fuel station. Police did not say how much cash the security officers lost. Masondo said the Polo could be central to a police investigation into a case registered in Brooklyn in September 2022.
The suspects are expected to appear in the KaBokweni and KaNyamazane Magistrates' Courts on Monday 9 November. Police said they face the charges linked to the stolen vehicle and the firearm.
