Court dismisses Zuma-Sambudla bid to drop terrorism charges
The KwaZulu-Natal High Court in Durban rejected an application by Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla, daughter of former president Jacob Zuma, to withdraw charges of incitement to commit terrorism and public violence. The case against her can now proceed.
The charges relate to her social media posts during the July 2021 unrest in KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng. Zuma-Sambudla is 44 years old and was expelled from the MK Party. Reports said she reposted images and videos of the unrest on X with the captions Amandla and We See You.
Zuma-Sambudla said the posts were not meant to encourage violence. She said Amandla was simply a greeting. The State said she had considerable influence during the unrest.
Advocate Dali Mpofu leads her defence team. The team called the prosecution's case laughable.
